Repatriation of Dead Body/Human Remains to Nepal

In the event of the death of a Nepali national within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Nepal, Dallas (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, and Mississippi), the Consulate issues a “No Objection Letter” to facilitate the repatriation of the dead body or any other human remains to Nepal.

The next of kin, family members, or authorized representatives are requested to coordinate with a licensed/registered funeral shipping company, which may then approach the Consulate with the following documents (originals and copies) for obtaining the No Objection Letter:

Required Documents:
1. Passport of the deceased (for cancellation);
2. Death Certificate issued by the concerned local authority;
3. Detailed police report in case of unnatural, accidental, or suspicious death;
4. Burial Transit Permit issued by the competent authority;
5. Certificate from the local health authority confirming that the deceased did not die of a quarantinable disease;
6. Online application submitted by the next of kin through the Department of Consular Services, Government of Nepal:

An authorization letter issued by the next of kin through the concerned local government authority in Nepal.

The complete set of required documents should be submitted to the Consulate General of Nepal, Dallas through the authorized funeral shipping company.
Applicants will be notified by email or telephone regarding update on the status of their application.
